Typical Weekly Themes:

Playground - This week The Otter Den becomes a playground with activities such as balancing, bean bag toss, and hopscotch.  How do these activities compare to the games from the 1880s up at the Homestead?

Painting – with paper, brush, and paint, create you own artistic impressions and then find artwork throughout the Museum to compare colors, light, and dark.

Noodles - Giant foam noodles can give your imagination a boost.  String some noodles together, make a big chair, or how about some giant spaghetti?  Get creative and get noodly.

Clay – Sculpting clay is a wonderful way to express yourself, make a cat, an eagle, or a badger. Then again sometimes it’s just fun to get your fingers into it!

Cardboard Boxes – Make a cardboard structure: a train and be the engineer or create Mrs. Blair’s Homestead and clean some laundry.  Compare your building or vehicle to what we have at the Museum.

Balls – Bouncing balls are everywhere.  Can you catch one?  Can you roll one?  We have all sorts of sizes and even some funny shapes, too!

Bubbles – It’s time for some bubble fun at The Otter Den.  Big bubbles, little bubbles and bubble machines. Good, clean, sticky, wet fun.

Blocks – Be a builder and create your own animal exhibit or a town of your own.  We’ve got soft brick blocks, colorful blocks, tree blocks, and some regular blocky blocks!

Tunnels and Tumbling – Here’s great way to exercise.  We’ve got the mats and tunnels, you come with your energy ready to go. Then see if you can be a tunneling badger or a burrowing owl.
